Helping Your Teen Express Themselves

Most teenagers will reach a pointing their lives when they will feel a strong need to express themselves and their individuality. This individuality may not always b the same expression that you express of yourself as a pare however it is important for you as the parent to be as open and accepting as possible of your teens expressions. There will be hundreds of things that society will tell you not to do and not to allow  your teen to do but it is important for you to remain open minded and think for yourself about which forms of self-expression are truly dangerous and which are actually harmless on the long run.

Tattoos and body art

Highly frowned upon by society, body art is one of the most popular forms of self-expression by young creative people and it can be an amazing thing if done correctly. For many young people, having a creative belly button rings can be a thing that will increase their self-confidence and will make them treasure their individuality and as a parent, it is important for you to understand that there is nothing truly wrong with or truly harmful about a tattoo or a body piercing.

Many young people will choose to secretly get a cartilage hoop earrings at Pierce Off so that no one will notice and so that they can keep it hidden from the world and in a way this shows that people do not get these forms of body art to impress anyone external but instead they get them for themselves to express themselves and feel truly unique.

If your teenager wants to get themselves a body piercing or a tattoo, it is important for you as the parent to explain to them that their decision once made and once the tattoo or piercing is done, it will be permanent. After they have made their decision, it really should be up to them to make the decision and one day, if they regret it, this tattoo will forever serve as a reminder of just how permanent life choices are it will possibly make your teenager think twice before making a decision in the future. A piercing on the other hand will close up if they stop using it and so this is not really a permanent thing but it will still serve as a reminder of life decisions. It is important for you as a parent to always encourage your child’s forms of self-discovery and self-expression provided it is not harmful to their well-being.
